Recently I attended an industry event where the speaker likened the acting industry to trying to break down a castle wall with a machine gun. If you are trying to break in, are you more likely to succeed by spraying the shot back and fourth all along the wall, or by focusing your shot at one point until that spot weakens and you break through? In the same way, the speaker stated that an actor is more likely to succeed by focusing on one acting path rather than trying to spread resources in an attempt to do musicals, drama, stand up, indie films and reality tv. If you pick the one that you are strongest at or that you love the most and focus on it, you are more likely to break through.
Best of luck out there, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
